Practical Identity-Based Encryption (IBE) in Multiple PKG Environments and Its Applications

چکیده

Identity-based encryption (IBE) schemes are usually used in multiplePKG environments — on the one hand, each administrative domain (e.g., a relatively small and close organization) maintains its own private key generator (PKG); on the other hand, encryption across domains becomes a prevalent requirement. In this paper, we present a new IBE scheme using bilinear pairings. Compared with the famous IBE scheme of Boneh and Franklin, we show that ours is more practical in the multiple-PKG environment. We prove that our scheme meets chosen ciphertext security in the random oracle model, assuming the intractability of the standard Bilinear Diffie-Hellman (BDH) problem. As an application of our IBE scheme, we also propose an escrowed ElGamal scheme which possesses certain good properties in practice.

On the Role of PKG for Proxy Re-encryption in Identity Based Setting

In 1998, Blaze, Bleumer, and Strauss proposed a kind of cryptographic primitive called proxy re-encryption[3]. In proxy re-encryption, a proxy can transform a ciphertext computed under Alice’s public key into one that can be opened under Bob’s decryption key. In 2007, Matsuo proposed the concept of four types of proxy re-encryption schemes: CBE(Certificate Based Public Key Encryption) to IBE(Id...

Asynchronous Distributed Private-Key Generators for Identity-Based Cryptography

An identity-based encryption (IBE) scheme can greatly reduce the complexity of sending encrypted messages over the Internet. However, an IBE scheme necessarily requires a private-key generator (PKG), which can create private keys for clients, and so can passively eavesdrop on all encrypted communications. Although a distributed PKG has been suggested as a way to mitigate this problem for Boneh ...

Provably secure and efficient identity-based key agreement protocol for independent PKGs using ECC

Key agreement protocols are essential for secure communications in open and distributed environments. Recently, identity-based key agreement protocols have been increasingly researched because of the simplicity of public key management. The basic idea behind an identity-based cryptosystem is that a public key is the identity (an arbitrary string) of a user, and the corresponding private key is ...

An Identity-Based Key Infrastructure Suitable for Messaging Applications

Identity-based encryption (IBE) systems are relatively recently proposed; yet they are highly popular for messaging applications since they offer new features such as certificateless infrastructure and anonymous communication. In this paper, we intended to propose an IBE infrastructure for messaging applications. The proposed infrastructure requires one registration authority and at least one p...
